A home health aide is someone who cares for people who are disabled, are older in age and require assistance, who have physical or mental impairments, and much more. Home health aides are not required to have a high school degree. They typically will receive on-the-job training from registered nurses or licensed health aides. Home health agencies are required by law to provide training to their aides and perform evaluations to make sure the aides are knowledgeable in the work they must perform.
What services do home health aides provide?
Services provided by home health aides may include giving the clients their medications, changing and bathing them, preparing meals for them, light housekeeping, taking them to doctor appointments, and grocery shopping. All these services are strictly related to the client, in other words, if a client is living with others the aide is only required to do the client’s laundry, or make meals just for them. The aide is not cooking meals for the entire family or cleaning up after other or other rooms not used by the client. A home health aide is only to provide services to the client directly and help make their life a little easier, clients are not allowed to abuse the help of these services.
